    It's Such a shame

It's same that Microsoft has adopted a policy of downloading drivers and apps that a lot of users don't need or wont.
I've had to do all sorts of fixes to stop MS taking over my PC with what they think I need, like their insistence on installing Realtek audio drivers when all they do is blue screen my PC. Even disabling device installation setting does nothing.

While I'm happy with the overall performance of 10, we are all stuck with whatever MS decides to throw as us. I personally think that George Orwell's 1984 as arrived abet later than predicted. An OS should be a platform for running programs not for the crap MS is projecting with Apps unless you are 10 years of age.

    :)

  2. Skype for symbian such a shame

Does any one know how to set nokia 701 to treat skype asa system application? So that it won't crash due to low memory.

  3. Skype for symbian such a shame

Yes, Skype for Symbian is a true disappointment. I understand that this is not Nokia's direct fault, but I think that such OS developer as Nokia has to do some negotiations with major software suppliers, because nowadays an OS without extra software is just
    big nothing.

I understand that, as Microsoft owns the Skype now, they are not interested in Symbian anymore and put all efforts into Windows phones. But in the end, who will gain from that? Symbian users will get dissapointed and will choose Android or Apple over switching
to Nokia's Win phones. So, both Nokia and Microsoft will suffer.

That my well be, but, for me I find MS to be over zealous in their approach to one size fits all.

Your Windows 10 PC gets the latest updates automatically. In rare cases, a driver or update might cause issues with your PC. To keep the update from reinstalling automatically, download this troubleshooter. It will let you hide the problematic updates.

Careful- there are different versions for build 1511 and 1607 (see the MS link in my post)

Tried the hide updates, didn't work. Stopped the install of Realtek by changing the permission of the Realtek folder to exclude system, then deleted the Realtek HD folder reinstalled MS audo, no problems so fare.

I can understand why MS persists in trying to stuff drivers down but we really need an OS which has the option to stop unwanted installs.
The average joe doesn't know or understand what is being sent to their PC, all I'm saying is that I don't wont MS to control MY PC.

  10. That's exactly WHY Microsoft tries to download missing drivers. It's a really simple concept. Who are the vast majority of computer users....ones who don't know how to update drivers, or ones who build their own computers?

For most people who do know how, this feature isn't bothersome at all. Saves me time when I'm building a computer or reinstalling an OS for someone who doesn't. If you understand the industry, you understand why Microsoft does what it does.

If you don't want the drivers, the download the proper ones and install them yourself. Windows 10 won't see a need to do so for you.

  11. MS introduced possibility to disable driver updates as well as rollback the particular driver for good, until the new one.

    1. Disable downloading drivers via WU (the best option for my mom, do not fix, what is not broken).
    2. Check for drivers via WUMT, you can then download or hide them right there.
(note that, if you enable checking for drivers there, it is the same like in #1, so you need to un-check it afterwards)
    3. Rollback the driver, if it proves to be problematic.

I understand what you are saying but for those of us that require control over our own machines it would be nice if MS gave us a choice on what we wanted to download, as in previous OS's. I have no problem with people who want all the bell's and whistles, I just want to have a choice.

    It's Such a shame

1511 and 1607 are Versions, numbers don't change until the next version. the Build numbers are larger, 5 digits plus a . [period] and a smaller number such as 10586.545 or 14905.51 respectively.

I had to do one rollback as the 1607 install changed my Home to Pro and it wouldn't activate, must have picked up the wrong file somehow.

I might have the opposite problem. My graphics card vendor keeps wanting to update my drivers as well. Mostly for improvements for gaming etc. Turns out it is a suite of several hundred MB's that I have no use for as I am not a "gamer". *Sad
