Ive got a hp G7 notebook 2019, came with preinstalled win 10. anyway 1 month ago it got screwed up while updating, and i was listening to instruction on how to repair when i was instructed to basically clean my whole HDD! now i have nothing , i need to know what operating system to download that i can format with and start over as of now its showing now HDD? @Samuria, I run HP Support Assistant once a month. I ran it last week, and there was no firmware or bios update. There was however an update for the network card.

That may mean the one you have installed is later..

I therefore think you should go by the text of the message in your first post.

I wonder how you got a later version than WU is offering now...or is available on HPs site- or so it seems.

That leaves dealing with a prompt you don't want... when does it occur? Is your PC otherwise ok?
