Windows 10: I've tried all solutions to get Desktop Icons Back. NOTHING

Discus and support I've tried all solutions to get Desktop Icons Back. NOTHING in Windows 10 Support to solve the problem; It seems we may have similar issues. See my thread here. Does that seem similar to what you're seeing? Discussion in 'Windows 10 Support' started by Skylercool2001, Jun 14, 2017.

  2. Kind of similar, except when you click on Desktop in the file viewer nothing shows up in the folder either. If you make a new folder it doesn't come up. I'm not getting any issues found from the sfc scan

I'm running "Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth" right now - it's been stuck at 11.1% for about 15 minutes, but the instructions in the link say it'll sit at 20% for a while so I'll wait some more. Did you dry those DISM commands?

Yes, I've used DISM before. It can be slow, but be patient. It will complete eventually.

  5. No issues found with the DISM commands. I'm about to just reimage the damn thing. I won't lie. This has been the most frustrated I've been with Windows in a long time. I mean literally no solution that I've found online has worked. Like this is crazy. I haven't been this frustrated since Vista

Not going to try the in-place repair install? If you image is recent there's probably not much point, but if you have made significant changes or have a lot of documents you'd have to restore the in-place repair install would make sense.

  7. I upgraded from Windows 7 straight to 10, so I don't know if that may have had anything to do with it or not. I'm going to try it and see, and if that doesn't work I'm going to just back everything up and reimage it.
