Windows 10: Japanese IME will not install on windows 10

when i first started using this computer a few months ago japanese ime worked fine. all of a sudden it's not working and when i try re-installing japanese IME it won't even install. it just stays at the same point for a minute and then says 'something happened and we can't install a feature'. this is EXTREMELY inconvenient as one of the programs i use daily is almost impossible to use without being able to type in japanese.

1. Have you recently made any changes on the device?
   
2. What is the version of Windows 10 that you are using?
   
   You may try the below suggested steps.
   

Method 1. Remove the language pack

Step 1. Select the Start button, go to
Settings > Time & Language > Region & language.

Step 2. Select the preferred language pack > Click on Remove.

Method 2: Re-adding the Language pack

Step 1. Select the Start button, go to
Settings > Time & Language > Region & language.

Step 2: Click on Add a Language >Select the
Language (Japanese).

Step 3: Click on Set as default.
The default language will be the first language in your language list.

Step 4: If you click on Options button, you will see the following panel open up. Here you can download
Language packs and add Keyboards and check the working of Japanese IME.

Method 3: Restore from a System restore point

You may refer the section
Restore from a System restore point,
if the method 1 fails.
