  1. Java auto update problem

    Hi there.
I have a user who needs Java 7 to run a java program to do some work in our organization. The Java 8 updates from SCCM/config mgr to her computer is been blocked because it messes with the current setup.

I have trouble diabling the java 7 update function. The best way is to set the user up as a local admin and disable it from within control panel in Win 10. Strange thing. I disable the java update removing the tick in the box, click apply and OK. Then go back to check and it is still ticked off like it is still not disabled.

I need a way to disable java updates completely so the users Java program can run in IE without any of the problems with the auto updater.

Also Internet Explorer comes up with warnings. Like this java is old, please update. I need to remove them so the user can do her work.

We use Win 10, Office 13 and F-secure antivirus.

    Any suggestions? *Smile

    :)

    Auto hide taskbar not working

It is still a problem to this day. It requires a Windows restart to go back to normal, until something causes it to refuse to auto-hide, again, and it stays that way regardless of how many or which applications you close. This last time, it occurred when
I clicked on a notification pop-up from JAVA Update: the update did not appear, but the taskbar went out of auto-hide and stayed that way. If restarting Windows is inconvenient, I just uncheck Auto-hide in Taskbar Properties, just so I can see the bottom
    of my screen.

  4. Java auto update problem

    This is for Windows 7:
To disable Java Updates prompts (32 bits):
    Remove RegistryKey "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\SunJavaUpdateSched"

Set RegistryKey "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\JavaSoft\Java Update\Policy\EnableJavaUpdate" Type "DWord" Value 0

To disable Java Updates prompts (64 bits):
    Set RegistryKey "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Wow6432Node\JavaSoft\Java Update\Policy\EnableJavaUpdate"
    Type "DWord" Value 0

Can I use this to disable Java 7 update 80 auto update in Windows 10 ?

I do not have Java installed in my computer.
I googled this one for you. Hope it helps a little.

The following is an excerpt from Java own publication :
What is Java Update and how do I change the update schedule?

    Change Automatic Update Settings
    • Find and launch the Java Control Panel
    • Click the Update tab to access the settings.
    • To enable Java Update to automatically check for updates, select the Check for Updates Automatically check box.
To disable Java Update, deselect the Check for Updates Automatically check box.

  6. Nope, tried that... *really

As written earlier in this thread:
"I have trouble disabling the java 7 update function. The best way is to set the user up as a local admin and disable it from within control panel in Win 10. Strange thing. I disable the java update removing the tick in the box, click apply and OK. Then go back to check and it is still ticked off like it is still not disabled."

I most likely have to try editing the registry.
