  1. jerky stop motion video, dropping frames after upgrading from win7

I am sorry but the banner has nothing to do with the internet, it is part of the video from the antennas OTA ATSC signal only.

Absolutely no pixelation or smearing at all.
I will look at this task manger idea.

it does look like using windows.old, I could keep a copy and restore it manually.
So I might try this fresh win 10 install idea. During the upgrade, I linked my Microsoft outlook account to this win 10.

But first will swap video cards.

This problem is severe enough, something must be done to resolve it, one way or another.

When you swap the graphics card I do suggest you use DDU, ( link in earlier post), to "clear the decks" for the new driver install, ( not from Windows *Wink )

  3. I did something positive.
I used the DDU program to uninstall the nvidia driver, not in safe mode.
Then rebooted, of course screen comes up huge.

And I went to youtube, and the video is perfectly smooth, no stuttering!

So what do I do now, install nvidia 342 driver?

What that tells us is that the issue is probably due to the driver/card combination. It may have been related to some old remnants of previous drivers, or could be related to the available 342 Driver and the older card compatability you could install the driver and see if it now runs correctly, if not you could try using an earlier driver version ( I can sometime happen that only the latest driver has an issue). use ddu between each driver install to be sure. if the driver re-install brings back the issue then another card may be the best option.

    Edit
I would also keep monitoring the TV card drivers available as the new version of windows may need drivers tweaking by the manufacturer, (and they often work reactively rather than proactively, so if you can get all sources working but just the TV has an issue then check with the TV Card manufacturer )

  5. I can not install any nvidia drivers.
    Tried 342, 341.
Trying another earlier 341, they fail.

i ran gpu-z and it is an nvidia card

  6. I went to system updates, and windows 10 was downloading and installing it's own nvidia driver. I just restarted pc.

How can I install a more up to date driver if win 10 prevents me?
Is that win10 driver going to work? Is it crippled? It did not work before...

It seems like ddu, you delete the driver, then windows simply re-installs the driver. And you can not install one yourself?

NVIDIA is the manual download page for the drivers which should not have the issue with flash

if windows insists on loading it's own driver let it then install the one downloaded from nVidia over the top which should result in the the latest installed

This Is/Was a switch buried deep in the system to prevent windows offering drivers - will see if I can locate it on Build 1709

    Edit

3 Ways To Disable Automatic Driver Updates In Windows 10 is the option I was looking for but the options on 1709 have changed slightly option one in the link is OK up to the option to switch off manufacturer's updates but does not have the windows update option

Not sure if the other options will still work

  9. So windows installed its own video driver and it hosed itself?
Is there a safe mode to boot into?
    Then what?

How can i even get to safe mode without a recovery drive?
I do have another win10 pc here at home.
    Unbelievable.

  10. So just unplug a couple more times and maybe it will do the safe mode thing?

    6. Interrupt the normal boot process of your Windows 10 PC

If Windows 10 fails to boot normally three times over, the fourth time it enters by default in an Automatic Repair mode. Using this

mode, you can boot into Safe Mode. To trigger the Automatic Repair mode, you must interrupt the normal boot process three consecutive times: use the reset or the power button on your Windows 10 PC to stop it during boot, before it finishes loading Windows 10. If you use the power button, you might have to keep it pressed for at least 4 seconds to force the power off. When your Windows 10 PC enters the Automatic Repair mode, the first thing you see is a screen that tells you that the operating system is “Preparing Automatic Repair.”

Was just looking for a magic bullet technique and closest I've found is the following ...

    • Shut Down completely
    • Hold shift and click Power button then Restart while keeping shift key pressed.
That should jump start into safe mode

  12. It did present the keyboard selection with a blue screen, BUT!, the keyboard does not work, the mouse does not work.
I dont know what it is doing was that a safe mode screen?
I tried reboot with a different ps2 keyboard, no help.
So I powered off and on and it is back revolving circular dots.

I will try this shift key thing.

It is real hard you know, after a while of struggling to retain an objective mind...
Plus this PC is in a cabinet. I use wireless keyboard and mouse. I had to plug in a cabled keyboard, squeezer in there, hold shift down while blindly feeling for the power button.

That screen does look like an install in progress, for a complete OS, I can't think of anything that you have been trying that could cause that *Confused

Did you by any chance select to refresh the system?
