  1. July 14 update experience

On July 17 my pc told me I had enough fun and it's time to update. Ok.png

All my networks disappeared. Ethernet and WiFi.

Bit defender disabled itself somehow and Windows defender took over, HOWEVER firewall got switched off.

I uninstall the updates but all of the damage remained

Asked Microsoft support and a dude walked me through basic troubleshooting of network drivers and stuff related that I could find on Google.

To no avail and he stopped responding all together.

Then it hit me: no firewall- no internet.

    Services.msc---> wD firewall> right-click> start

Firewall failed to start on this machine error 87.

Other support lady tried to look into it. We did CMD> DISM functions> SFC scannow.

    All results come back clean.

    And nothing ever changed

Restart "preparing to configure windows don't turn off your computer" I'm on this screen for 20 minutes now.

I had work to do bit instead I'm tearing my hair out for the last 4 hours.

So! I have this great idea of hard shutdown and just str8 up reinstalling win10 which will take a few more hours.

Something like this has happened to me about 11 times through using win 10 because I'm forced to install things that break my pc by Microsoft, which result in hours to days of me trying to fix it. Obviously previous issues varied in severity.

Any idea on what else I can do?

I have a huge desire to go to the local Microsoft office and just drop my pc on them with words "you broke it- you fix it"

  2. Windows 10 update July 2017

    Hello Meg,

it will tell you it was they last update on the computer. It should be the first recover option on the list, I only had one option to select.

Although my backup date was July 17, 2017.

    Yours may be similar?

    good luck Meg!

geforce experience takes an age to load..

Well that's why I asked. Mine is on SSD and takes 11 seconds. Your list of games will not appear if it has not checkd for updated suggested settings for awhile until it checks.

When it says it is refreshing the game list, it is checking, because NVIDIA periodically updates suggested settings. Plus it will look for those for new games you have installed.

So, the less it is run, the slower it will be.

EVGA GTX 2xx series Reinbursement Service

XFX started it and Evga is doing the same. Evga is starting its own reinbursement program for those who bought the Evga 2xx series when they first came out. All you have to do is follow a few steps.

    • Must be a new purchase from an authorized EVGA reseller. Step-ups do not qualify.
    • You have 14 days to register and upload a qualified invoice to claim your EVGA Bucks.
    • Only customers who purhased the EVGA GTX 280 or GTX 260 at the full Manufactured Suggested Reatil Price (MSRP) will qualify for the Reimbursement Program.
    • If between June 16th and July 7th you purchased an:
    • EVGA GTX 260 you will receive $75.00 in EVGA Bucks* or $60.00 Cash Back
    • EVGA GTX 280 you will receive $150.00 in EVGA Bucks* or $125.00 Cash Back
The only thing this doesn't cover is the Step-up program. I'm fine with that because I got the price cut anyway. I just hope to get the card by this weekend if not early next week. I have a itch to bench. *Rockout :rockout:
