Windows 10: July 14th update

Both My desktop and my laptop computers stopped working after the july 14th update. Same build on both Windows 10 machines . Both boot to the login screen. After i login i get an error that says a file is missing. Then a black screen. Can not do anything but force it to shut it down. I managed to fix the desktop using restore point. No luck with the laptop. Where do i go from here?

Thank you for this helpful reply. I will try the steps you suggest. Only problem is I don't know the precise date for the July update. Can you let me know the date?

Hello Meg,

it will tell you it was they last update on the computer. It should be the first recover option on the list, I only had one option to select.

Although my backup date was July 17, 2017.

Yours may be similar?

Cumulative updates - July 14th 2020

I have a Lenovo ThinkPad Windows 10 Pro and a HP Officejet Pro 8620. The July updates caused my computer to stop communicating with my printer. Please advise. I have done troubleshooting, uninstalling...now I cannot reinstall the printer because they
won't communicate with each other...both USB and Wireless. I can print things from my phone so there is nothing wrong with my printer.

This is a summary of the cumulative updates released on July 14th for all the supported consumer releases of Windows 10.

Known Issues

Known issues with KB4565503(2004): When using some apps, such as Microsoft Excel, users of the Microsoft Input Method Editor (IME) for Chinese and Japanese might receive an error, or the app might stop responding or close when attempting to
drag using the mouse.For more information and workaround steps, please see
KB4564002.

Known issues with KB4565483 (1903/1909): After installing this update on a Windows 10 device with a wireless wide area network (WWAN) LTE modem, reaching the internet might not be possible. However, the Network Connectivity Status Indicator
(NCSI) in the notification area might still indicate that you are connected to the internet.
We are working on a resolution and will provide an update in an upcoming release.

Known issues with KB4558998(1809): After installing KB4493509, devices with some Asian language packs installed may receive the error, "0x800f0982 - PSFX_E_MATCHING_COMPONENT_NOT_FOUND."Uninstall and reinstall any recently added language packs.
For instructions, see Manage the input and display language settings in Windows 10. Select Check for Updates and install the April 2019 Cumulative Update. For instructions, see Update Windows 10.
