June 2020 Win10 Update Killing Audio

Hi. Ive updated Win10 with the June KB4560960 Windows update and associated Windows feature enablement update KB4517245, twice and both times it kills my audio.

In Sound Settings, audio output is still picking up sounds but nothing's coming through my Sound Blaster ZxR sound card to speakers or headset.

Ive tried updating drivers via Troubleshooter, from Device Manager and direct from manufacturers website but nothing works.

Ive tried multiple different settings and changes but sound still doesnt work.

Web research shows this happened a lot due to Windows updates earlier this year but those updates never had any impact on my audio at all.

Ive tried numerous fixes that people recommended for the earlier updates like deleting the Sound Card and drivers via Device Manager and rebooting but none of those solutions have worked. The only thing Ive been able to do to get sound working again is to roll back to the previous version of Windows.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

    My system details:
    OS NameMicrosoft Windows 10 Pro

    When in win10:
    • Update&security -> Windows update -> Finding update... .... .... ....
Planning to download the latest Win10.ISO (vers.1803) and manually update:
    - Then wait that my ordered new SSD arrives and clone the old HDD to it.

New Win10 update killed my audio

Since you have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the latest driver of your audio card, we suggest you to follow the steps below to check if the speaker has been set as default in the Playback devices:

    • Right-click on the speaker icon on the right bottom of the desktop.
    • Click on Playback devices to see a list of devices connected to the system.
    • If it is not listed, it is possible that the device has been disabled because of the update. Right click and select
      Show Disabled Devices.
    • If your device is listed after this, right click on the speaker and select
      enable
      .
    • Right click on the speaker and click Set as Default option present at the bottom of the same window.

If the issue persists, you can try to roll back driver if it is available in the options. To rollback the driver, you may follow the steps below:

    • Press Windows + R on the desktop screen.
    • Type devmgmt.msc and hit enter.
    • Expand the category you want and right click on the driver and select properties.
    • Navigate to driver tab and click on Roll Back Driver.

If the Roll Back Driver is not available, you may try to install an older version of your audio driver from the Manufacturer's website. You need to uninstall first all the devices for Sound, video and game controllers under the Device Manager (HD Audio Device
and NVIDIA Audio Device) before reinstalling the driver.

Let us know the status of the issue so we can assist you more.
