    Windows 10 Block Junk Email

With Windows 10 email support, it there a way to stop junk email from even getting stored in the Junk folder (I was able to do that with Windows Live Mail) ? In other words, I don't want to see anything stored in the Junk folder.

How do I set the filtering level for junk email ?

Junk Mail folder in Windows 10 mail is not called "Junk Mail"

In Outlook.com on the web, the Junk Email folder is called "Junk Email".

In Windows 10 Mail app, the Junk Email folder is called HM_BulkMail_ with no option to rename it.

    How do I fix this?

Depending on email client....but the process is basically the same. You have to highlight said email, right click it, move to junk folder. Then there is a popup asking about all other emails from this person/place/company to send it to the junk folder from now on.

  5. Welcome to the TenForums.

Could I just clarify is this Outlook as in Outlook 2010, 2013 or 2016 or is this outlook.com (hotmail rebranded to be ever so confusing)?

As an example in Outlook 2013 open the message. In the ribbon, very left is an menu item to mark as junk.

Since Outlook 20xx is just a client you can also sign into your web mail and block some items so they never reach your computer.

In outlook.com (web browser) you can open message and along the top is a Junk option.

    Hope this helps.

This is Outlook 2016 and there doesn't appear to be an obvious answer as there was with live.com. Next time I get one, I'll try the "highlight/right click" suggestion. Thanks.

  7. There is also a Junk setting on the home ribbon. You may also customize ribbon.

  9. there are several tabs across the top. Starts with file very, left, then home, then on mine send / receive. Each heading has its own ribbon.

Ok - Outlook 2016 doesn't have the conventional tabs across the top. I have added a picture of what you get when email is opened.

  11. Sorry this isn't Outlook 2016. This is the Outlook app for Windows and lines up with the crazy renaming of Hotmail. There is also Outlook for the phone or tablet so we can all go mad.

I don't use this app. I used Outlook.com native through a browser. (Hotmail, msn, live and Outlook.com) all route to the same place. The new native web browser has some features I consider really handy. Easy rules, a sweep function for newsletters, junk mail, blocking, signatures and on and on.

If you are googling ensure you ask how do you mark mail as junk in Outlook app.

Ok thanks but that is a bummer. In mid 2016, I received a message from Microsoft saying that my old email format, live.ca was being phased out and that I should download outlook.com and this format (picture) is what I got. It works fine except for the junk email problem.

    Thanks for your assistance.

    Junk email

What you are using is the Windows 10 Mail App. You should make this very clear when asking as it gets very confusing referring to another application.

All you can do with a right click is "Move to Junk", I assume that also marks it as Junk.

You can also sign in to the Webmail interface to Outlook Email, and there use the Junk Menu item to select "Junk" or "Phishing scam".
The Account > Cog > Options gives you further options for junk email.

Ok - thanks for the info. I have made note of that for future reference.

  15. What was being phased out was the old look / format for Live, MSN, Hotmail and early adopters of Outlook.com. Now its new and improved.

I think they are calling the new look the Office 365 look, likely to get away from the mass confusion when some says Outlook and no one knows if they mean hammer or screw driver.

Log into your account through a browser, it won't harm your app. Check out the options by clicking on gear. You will see it is jammed packed, they had to compete with Gmail. Click on an email and you will see junk across the top. You can build rules, block people and domains and you can set up sweep rules.
