Cleaning up the #AzureAD and Microsoft account overlap

This article has really caught me on the hop and I think should have had more notice. I don't recall seeing anything in the Office 365 admin centre message centre:

Historically my client has logged onto their laptop with a Microsoft account using the same email address as Office 365. Today I've come to create a new account and this change has prevented me from doing this.

I don't like the idea of creating a "fake" Outlook.com account so what are my options?

My sneaking suspicion is that they need to be looking at AzureAD? I'm not a specialise in the later although I've used traditional Windows AD for years at a pretty deep level.

Should their laptops be joining their AzureAD domain? I've shied away from this as it seems like a very big subject but maybe because of my experience with traditional AD, it won't be so hard?

Any pointers to quick start guides for all this?

Remove account


I suggest you backup your personalized files first before removing the account.
To delete an account, follow these steps:

1. Press WIN + X keys and click Command Prompt (Admin) from the menu.
2. Type the following command and press Enter. Replace test with the name of your sister's account. Code:

   net user test /del

To change the Account type follow the steps.

• 
  Press Windows + X, click on User Accounts.
  
• 
  Click on change your account type.
  
• 
  Select standard account.
  

To delete the account follow the steps.

• 
  Press Windows + X, click on User Accounts.
  
• 
  Click on Manage other Account.
  
• 
  Select the user account.
  
• 
  Click on Delete the account.
  

To create the new user account follow the steps.

• 
  Press Windows + X, click on User Accounts.
  
• 
  Click on Manage other Account.
  
• 
  Click on Add A new user in PC setting.
