    KB3081704 Fails To Install


    Every tile I do a manual check for updates, it finds update KB3081704, tries to install, then fails. I did a quick Google, and this update seems to be the free Windows 10 DVD player. Thing is, I already have this installed - it installed automatically a few days after upgrading to Windows 10 back in the summer.

    I've tried re-setting Windows update, but still the same thing occurs. Any thoughts?

    this is the error in the event logs

    Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x80070643: Update for Windows 10 for x64-based Systems (KB3081704).

    I've ran the update troubleshooter and sfc doesn't fix it KB3081704 keeps failing

    I think its something to do with the free dvd player that use to work but hasn't worked since the store update that messed up the start menu and store app.

    the bug was later fixed but the dvd player hasn't since then

    is there a download or a fix?

    KB3081704 is failing to install.

    Original Title: Problem with KB3081704.

    When I upgraded from Win8.1 Pro w/windows media center to Win10 Pro it automatically installed the WinDVD player.

    Problem is WinDVD player is ALREADY INSTALLED and the latest Windows update KB3081704 is being pushed out to install WinDVD player, thus KB3081704 is failing to install. This now is running in a loop trying to continually install.

    How do I stop this viscous cycle
