Hibernation was supported in Windows 95 provided the manufacturers chose to support it. Toshiba was one that did...

Did you happen to read the part that as you stated was only if the hardware supported it. That actually was a very small number at that time, since the majority of machines were P2's, with P3's still being very expensive and somewhat rare at the time.

No because this is a privately owned forum. No one on this forum has contacts with anyone at Microsoft. It is a volunteer supported site and with that you cannot get upset over the information you are given, because the majority are suggestions to try, not actual fixes. Not everyone has the same issues. Those of us that have dealt with issues will tell you how we fixed them. Also the same that you are going to get a majority vote that using Hibernate is very risky and can cause the OS to become screwed up if the Hibernation file on the drive becomes messed up.

Also there is nothing wrong with the updates, unless Microsoft notices a large number of machines reporting back that there are massive errors with it. The majority of problems are user created with tweaks and extra software that a user may be running, along with if they are overclocking, which can cause problems.

As for wifi issues, it is from people still allowing Microsoft Updates to install the generic Microsoft drivers. If more people shut off the ability of allowing Microsoft Update from not being able to install drivers, there would be less issues. Same as with the Security software people run that really does nothing but take money out of their pockets. If they use a free version, they will run into headaches because the free versions are very limited in what they do and can cause what appears to be a device problem, but is just an issue with the security software.

Sleep is just placing it in a S3 state and if there is a IRQ request, it can keep the machine from not going back into sleep mode. Hibernate has been a headache since XP SP3. Hybrid Sleep has been an even bigger headache, since a lot of it deals on people knowing how to set it up correctly, but in reality they should not have to use it with the fact that the SSD's are faster, same as the M.2 cards are fast. Also OS's are now being setup to allow you to reopen what programs and windows that you had open when you shut down. It is basically taking a snapshot of what processes, stick the snapshot into a file and when you boot back up, the OS looks at that snapshot of what you had running and reopens them. Of course with that comes the fact that we are right back to where if something goes wrong, you can end up with a headache to try and fix.

I am not sure where your hostility is coming from "Bro", I asked an honest question, hoping that someone here might be able to give constructive advise. Your advise has been: "no one uses hybrid sleep", "it has never worked", "there is no need for hybrid sleep", and "hibernation has been a headache ever since...blah, blah, blah". Your advise is not constructive but derogatory. Also you are telling me things base upon your opinions and asserting them as if they are universal facts.

You don't know me, my education, my background or experiences and, most certainly, you do not know my applications. Yet have not hesitated to "tell me" and lecture me about S states, SSD's and WiFi drivers.

I will tell you "Bro", that I have used sleep/hybrid sleep and hibernation without issue for many years - in some form since XP first came out, also on W7, W8, W8.1 and W10. I use it all the time - on 19 different PC's currently. I have never had a problem like this until 3199209 was released the other day. I never had a corrupted hibernation file. If you have no honest ideas, fine, just hold off on the lectures.

I am actually beginning to regret posting on this forum.

Sorry TranzPhat but I am not being Hostile. Just pointing out the fact that this is a volunteer forum and you need to take the information you are given is suggestions and as I stated before, it may not always work, so that is why you may get suggestions from many who may have you try something in each step.

No one is here to brag about their education, background or experience. You came here for help, you got mad and upset over the offer for help and now you are trying to backtrack on your word and think that we are automatically going to have some random person from Microsoft pop up on here, which even they do not even know their OS, since they are script readers. Those that are Software developers or engineers with Microsoft are not allowed outside the company circle to go on boards like this and fix their OS.

So once again if you want help, drop everything you think that is wrong with what is going on and if you cannot, then you are also able to leave the conversation, have it locked and walk away without it causing any problems with you.
