    I'm running Version 1607 build 14393.1358. 64 bit

    Another update which installed broke iCloud working with Office 2007 - this has been reported elsewhere. In order to get things working again I had to do a system restore to roll back a couple of weeks. All the other updates have reinstalled again ok apart from KB4013214 which gives a failed to install - Error 0x80070643 every time I reboot the machine.

    To also note although I'm sure not related is that after I did the system restore I also decided to upgrade Office so uninstalled 2007 and installed 2016 pro. That all installed fine and is working including the iCloud link.

    These are the updates installed on my machine...

    How do I fix it? Thanks

    Error 0x80070643 is a known error code which happens when installing Microsoft Essentials and Office apps. To resolve the issue, we found a thread that discusses workaround in resolving the said issue of failing to install. Please follow the troubleshooting
    steps provided by Hazr found on this thread.

    Hi geofflove.

    Have you tried the Windows Update Trouble Shooter.

    Windows key + S, search bar appears, type troubleshooting into search bar, troubleshooting appears at top. Click it, window opens, lower right side "Fix problems with Windows Update", click. Window opens, click on “advance”, click on Run as administrator, click “Next”. Should run clean. If not run again.

    There is also a manual process outlined in this link.

  5. I have the same problem. Windows Update Troubleshooter fixed something but still get KB4013214 failed to install - Error 0x80070643. It's been trying for weeks.

  7. I have "2017-06 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1607 for x64-based Systems (KB4022715)" which seems to satisfy the requirements.

    Have you tried the manual process to reset updates listed in posting #2?

    It does erase your update history that is visible to you, just so you know.

  9. Tried that. Seems to be the same thing that the troubleshooter does. I any case, I seem to have bigger problems. System Restore does not work ("unknown error") and I cant complete an image backup without an error. I think I need to go to the Media Creation Tool for a new install. Thanks for the help.

    Hi Mike,
    the 2 are possibly linked.
    That error code is vague just means failed to install, you allready know that.

    Any chance of posting the CBS log


    • Navigate to the following folder: C:\Windows\Logs
    • Right-click and on the CBS folder and select Copy.
    • Minimise all open windows and right-click on your Desktop, then select Paste.
    • Right-click on the CBS folder on your Desktop and select Send to > Compressed (zipped) folder.
    • A file, CBS.zip should appear on your Desktop.

  15. To use macrium reflect you download their code. When you start it, first time, part of the process is to create boot media which will then allow you, in the future to recover an Image created with their software.
