    KB4016252 problem

    I'm having a problem with KB4016252 *Sad
Last weekend i did a clean install of Creators Update and set it to the Insiders Fast Ring, it proceeded to update and KB4016252 was installed. Last night I decided to change from the Fast Ring to the Slow Ring, after changing I rebooted the PC. Then shut it down and wenty to bed.
This morning I booted up the PC then got notified there was an update avilable which was once again KB4016252. It has done the same four times today with this result:-

The only way I can stop it doing this is by going back on the fast ring.

    Any ideas anyone ?

    :)

  2. Turn OFF windows 10 updates

When the update is removed. it will then come back, even if you hide it.

Help me get rid of Windows 10.

I found an article the show how to take ownership of the GWX folder and then disable the scheduled task.

Maybe this is what I need to do.

  3. Turn OFF windows 10 updates

The above post is for Windows 10 and I am not running Windows 10. I want to preclude Windows 10 from installing on this Windows 8 machine permanently. The case I quoted above has not worked and the first answer here has not worked.

I have a mountain of errors:

Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x80240020: Upgrade to Windows 10 Pro.

And my hard drive space is being obliterated by Windows 10 downloads that (a) I NEVER reserved and (b) I do not want.

People: If you wish to post answers - great! But please do not post Windows 10 solutions because this machine is a Windows 8 machine.

I want to remove Windows 10 updating from this computer permanently and forever.

    Thank you.

That's my problem though, as I said the update is already installed so I can't understand why updater keeps trying to install it again.

Well, if it does show up as an installed update, why not just uninstall it and let your current ring update it?

    KB4016252 problem

This problem is Confusing me more and more. I uninstalled KB4016252, moved back to the Slow Ring againand rebooted. Checked for updates and KB4016251 downloaded and installed fine. After the reboot I checked for updates again and KB4016252 downloaded then failed to install. I once again moved to the Fast Ring and checked for updates, KB4016252 downloaded and installed fine. However if I move back to either the Slow or Release Preview Rings and check for updates it once again starts downloading KB4016252 which fails to install. So why is Windows thinking that I need that CU when it's already installed.

Thanks for the reply TC, I tried that yesterday but it didn't solve anything. I wouldn't mind but I did a clean install only last weekend.

    Wellllllllll......don't throw something....

Might have to again and set to Slow, or even Release Preview. Might be a bug in the MS process of dropping back a ring. I've never done it, so I don't know. Not sure I want to try!

    Sorry.......*Sad

P.S. - just to complicate your life, 16170 came out today......
