    I don't know where this came from but I was cleaning up my pgms today and KB4023057 is a listed pgm on my control panel. I never saw this before but the info is a following;

    KB4023057 10/9/17 988KB Ver: 2.5.0.0

This little surprise wasn't there a few days age. Do I leave it installed or remove it ????

    Thanks

    :)

So called update KB4023057 kills my internet. How to stop it from downloading?

Yes there is NO KB4023057 because, as I have explained if you chose to read my issue, it is an app, NOT an update. This means it will not appear as an update, cannot be stopped via a service or the wsshowhide.diagcab app.

I shall write that again: it is an app, NOT an update. This means it will not appear as an update, cannot be stopped via a service or the wsshowhide.diagcab app.

    Yes, I am on 1607.

I shall try the 1703 upgrade. Hopefully, it wont kill my bluetooth as 1709 does.

Nothing anywhere on the internet ? Well, put KB4023507 into google search and you will see a number of entries. Like those following. If not a legitimate MS update, then is must be a virus disguised as an update which peeps have been getting from July 2017.
It is mentioned in this forum as well as MS.com

Look if the following update is installed and uninstall it:

    KB4023057

    Press Windows key + R

    Type: appwiz.cpl

    Hit Enter

    Click View installed updates

See if KB4023057 is installed or not.

If it is, right click it then uninstall it.

You are not alone in seeing this, as this MalwareBytes forum thread attests: KB4023057 Program Windows 10 - General Windows PC Help - Malwarebytes Forums. That said, looks like it relates to older Windows releases (1507 and 1511). If you're up to newer feature updates, you should be able to uninstall it without difficulty. My oldest updates go back to 11/2017 so I don't have any machines with that KB item in their update histories right now (8 machines in all). Again, depending on the version of Win10 you're running (that is, 16xx or 17xx) you should be OK in removing this from your installed programs.

This update, according to the KB for it is applicable to all versions from 1507 up to 1703.

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/...r-update-relia

It may be associated with KB4023814. This installs and runs (at boot and a set time daily) the Update Assistant (and reinstalls it should you try to remove it).

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-ca/...stall-the-late

This seems designed to get everyone upgraded to 1709, whether the want to or not. Much in the same way that the Get Windows 10 app behaved at the launch in 2015.

  6. Yup, it got me on 3/8/18. Even though I had everything set to not upgrade from 1703, it forced the upgrade to 1709. I wasn't alone, as many others got the same treatment.
MS has issued another one of their "Ooops" statements saying that you can revert back within 10 days. They did the same thing with the GWX app to force Win 10 early on by changing the closing X box to mean accept instead of closing the app.
