    KB4090913 & KB4090914 issue...

I did a system restore from a restore point dated 03/04/18 to try to clear up another issue and now Update is stuck in a bit of a mixup. Update shows KB4090914 is installed on 03/06/18 and shows KB40090913 is waiting to be installed. The system will try to install it on startup or restart, but it does not happen (probably due to KB4090914 being installed) I can't uninstall KB4090914 as it never prompts to when selected. Appears to be a Catch22 situation. Suggestions please on how to get rid of the KB4090913 update.

    :)

  3. Update KB4087256

After update KB4087256 my laptop was a mess. Today I've installed new updates KB4090913 and KB4090914 but they did not help. I still have problems, especially with my mouse! What can I do about it?

I found the Update Troubleshooter in the Settings pages and ran it twice, rebooting in-between. Both runs claimed to have found and fixed 3 errors and rebuilt the Windows Update database. The first run deleted KB4090914 and left three instances of KB4090913 to be installed. They are still there after two reboots with updates. I also did a shutdown with updates and no change either.

Update history now shows KB4090913 as installed and no entry for KB4090914. It also shows KB4090913 ready to be installed with a restart. This entry is followed by (3). The Uninstall page shows KB4090914 as installed and it will not uninstall. KB5090913 is not shown on this page. The Windows Update page still shows KB4090913 as available with a status of "restart required". There is no "search for updates option" shown. I have not been able to find where these updates are stored and how to remove them outside of the Update screens, which don't seem to be working properly. Really stumped.

  7. If you look in your control panel under add/remove programs and click on show updates it should be seen there and removable if you want to do so.

    KB4090913 & KB4090914 issue...

Thanks for the response. Been there, done that, doesn't work. When the KB4090914 update is selected, no "uninstall" box pops up. Now the message center is posting a message that the updates weren't able to be completed and if the message is selected it opens the Windows Update page in settings. Something got corrupted when I did the System Restore from the 03/04/18 restore point. If no one can point me to a fix, I think I will have to do a system restore from a System Image backup from 03/04/18. That would be the day before KB4090913 was originally installed. I have another System Image backup from 01/26/18 if that doesn't work. Still hoping to fix this without having to do the restores.

Windows Update tried to download KB4090913 again (4) and the restart update generated error 0x80070bc2. Pursuing this now. I'm really loath to do an inplace restore at this point. The system is running fine, so it's not critical to fix this immediately.

  11. That is fine but you are not running the latest version of The FCU. When release 1803 comes out next moth, you may not be able to upgrade to it. The inplace upgrade I posted is not a restore it will proved you with a new build of 16299.15 and then install all of the updates. You obviously have a problem and this will fix it. But it is your choice.

I ran Brink's "Reset Register Windows Update Components" bat file, but the restart failed to complete the update with the same 0x80070bc2 error.

That is not the same thing as what I posted. An in place upgrade repair will fix any Windows problems you have, it will not remove any programs that you have or any personal filed. All you need to do is download the ISO usion the Windows Upgrade tool and follow the directions in the Tut that I posted.

Performed the Dsim and sfc was clean. Doing a in-place now. For the record this happened on a HP Spectre x360 15-b1XX. Also tried an unplug everything and a install of the catalogued KBxx913 package from MSFT update catalogue in SAFE mode with same results.

Seems KB4090914 is updated 1st and correctly but then hanging KB4090913. Hung in a loop with 0x80070bc2 error. Gets to 98% on the KBxx913, restarts and then the oops couldn't complete message and an undo.

03/09/2018 UPDATE. Did a in-place last night and it successfully updated KBxx913 and KBxx914.
However this morning it downloaded KBxx913 again now awaiting restart.*Mad
