KB4100347 breaks OC on specific CPU's - What to expect?

    Greetings.
New Microsoft/Intel microcode update KB4100347 breaks Haswell-E and Broadwell-E overclocks

Recording to Guru3d.com Microsoft update KB4100347 breaks the OC and return the CPU to default clock. What is likely to happen at this issue? A new BIOS/Firmware or a new patch from Microsoft?

Here is a snip of the text:

Multiple users on the X99 platform have confirmed and are reporting that their tweaks and overclocks are no longer working after they got Microsoft update KB4100347 installed. This is an Intel Meltdown related vulnerability microcode update.

  2. KB4100347

Does installing KB4100347 make any permanent changes in a PC that remain when the update is uninstalled or the HDD is wiped and W10 1803 is re installed? My HDD is at 100% activity nearly all the time with only 1-2% CPU? This renders the PC slow
and unusable. I did a clean install of W10 1803 from USB on this PC when it was first released without any issues or system changes etc but repeating the process as used before, remove all partitions, recreate them then install 1803 kills the PC when downloading
the updates. CHKDSK does not find any HDD errors. I have also noticed that KB4100347 does not download now when I check for updates.

KB4100347 why is microsoft pushing this update to none intel cpu's mainly amd

KB4100347 why is microsoft pushing this update to none intel cpu's mainly amd

I would think that all the insiders and months of testing, microsoft could tell the difference in cpu

architect or maybe I am wrong on that assumption.

Unless I am going to swap out my motherboard and cpu ? not likely

KB4100347 breaks OC on specific CPU's - What to expect?

Do I need KB4100347 for my processor?

My laptop has tried to do

    2018-07 Update for Windows 10 Version 1803 for x64-based Systems (KB4100347)

and failed twice this month.( All the other windows/adobe updates have installed properly)

I have run the troubleshooter and it says everything is fine but when I check the update history there is no KB4100347 listed.

According to various sources on the internet this is supposed to be another security patch for intel processors to stop a vulnerability being exploited.

    so I have 2 questions:

    1. Will it keep trying to do this update? If so is it requiring another update first (I have not missed any cumulative updates since 1803 was installed)?

    2. Is it a problem if my computer can't get this update? (it has an older N3060) perhaps only some cpu types need it?

Any helpful opinions/official guidance welcome KB4100347 breaks OC on specific CPU's - What to expect? :)
