KB4100347 why is microsoft pushing this update to none intel cpu's mainly amd

I would think that all the insiders and months of testing, microsoft could tell the difference in cpu

architect or maybe I am wrong on that assumption.

Unless I am going to swap out my motherboard and cpu ? not likely

Windows 10(1803) trying to push an Intel update(KB4100347) to my AMD PC

Hi,

I'm on Win 10 1803 and the Windows update program had just downloaded the following patch:

http://support.microsoft.com?kbid=4100347

It seems like this microcode update is just for CPUs of Intel instead of AMD's, but my computer's CPU is AMD ryzen 5 1600.

Everything on my computer is fine so far, maybe the code in the update file automatically checks if the processor is Intel or AMD.

I just wonder why Windows doesn't make an accurate update( scan the CPU first ), and does this mean that if there is an update for AMD, an Intel-CPU user will also receive it?

Don't worry the update doesn't work on Intel CPU's either. on E5-2690 it causes an infinite autorepair loop. So just because they said it works, doesn't mean they tested it. I'll be buying AMD next time around.

 

AMD CPU vs INTEL CPU

I have been using an old Hewllet-Packard computer WITH AN "AMD CPU." Just purchased a shiny new HP computer WITH AN "INTEL CPU." Both computers are desktops. Also purchased Laplink. My thinking was to transfer "everything" from old computer to new one, but
now I'm not sure I can do that. Will transfer work OK?
