KB4489899 Break USB devices and doesn't shutdown.

All of the USB devices that connected to my computer (mouse, keyboard, WIFI adapter) stopped working when KB4489899 update is installed. I had to use PS2 keyboard to be able to access the computer. However the computer doesn't shutdown normally anymore. The screen will go back after being commanded to shutdown. However it PC doesn't go off.

Please help as my PC is completely unusable right now. I can't get anymore update without WIFI.

    :)

Lumia 620 doesn`t connect to computer via usb cable

Hi yall and thanks for the replies!

Unfortunately, the were of no help.

The phone isn`t listed in device manager, the list of devices doesn`t change if I have my phone connected to my computer(s). There are no mystery devices, no yellow triangle -markings or anything even remotely pointing to the direction the phone being connected.

It could be that my phone has a broken usb port, but it makes me wonder that it still charges the battery when connected to a computer.

This is not a big problem for me, that I must admit, but still, it kinda bugs me that the phone doesn`t work the way it`s supposed to work,

Anyways, if somebody comes up with something that might help, I am most grateful.

    Have a great weekend yall!

edit: Also, I have my laptop almost always connected to charger. Tried without charger just for the heck of it, didn`t help.

KB4489899 Break USB devices and doesn't shutdown.

    unknown device USB

    Hi Ali,

In most cases, this issue can be caused by either an unstable/ corrupt USB controller or your computer's drivers need to be updated.

For us to isolate the possibilities, we suggest that you perform the following troubleshooting steps in succeeding order:

    • Connect your USB drive to a different port. Alternatively, try to connect it to a different PC.
    • Connect a different USB drive to your PC.
    • Unplug your USB drive and restart your system. Afterwards, plug it in and see if it works. If the same issue occurs, perform a complete shutdown and wait for a few minutes before turning it on again.
    • Update your drivers.

If you find that the USB drive still doesn't work even after performing all these suggestions, this is most likely pointing to a hardware issue. Thus, it would be best to get in touch with your device manufacturer for a thorough check of the device.

If you have any other questions or concerns, feel free to post back and let us know.
