    KB4515384 error 0x800f0831


    Hi. I have done several attempts to install the update KB 4515384 but it will not work. I'm always receiving the error code 0x800f0831.

    The download seems to work correctly and also the installation seems to work as it should, it take time and I can see the % increasing and also reach 100 % but then the error message occur

    I keep getting error Error 0x800f0831 after trying to install the latest updates from windows updates. Any way to fix this?

    I was getting 0x800f0831 for a different update. And on Server 2012 R2. After multiple unsuccessful iterations of DISM and SFC, I found an entry in the CBS.log.

    2017-04-17 09:31:31, Error CBS Failed to resolve package 'Package_272_for_KB3185331~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.3.1.4' [HRESULT = 0x800f0831 - CBS_E_STORE_CORRUPTION]

    2017-04-17 09:31:31, Info CBS Mark store corruption flag because of package: Package_272_for_KB3185331~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.3.1.4. [HRESULT = 0x800f0831 - CBS_E_STORE_CORRUPTION]

    KB3185331 was not installed, and was not being offered by Windows Update (our internal WSUS). I don't know if this was something that we did wrong, or if there was a problem with KB4012213 that it was trying to install. I downloaded KB3185331 and installed
    it. After the reboot, all of the other patches then installed ok. So maybe the solution to 0x800f0831 is to (re)apply the fix that it flags as corrupt.
