Windows 10: KB4532695 and Office Not Opening

I installed Windows Update KB4532695, I then noticed that MS Office 2019 would not open. When I click Word or Outlook the application tries to do an update. There is no update as my Office is updated manually every few days. After 2 minutes a Windows error pops up and it says that the office application can't open. I then restart the computer and things are ok until the computer goes to sleep. That is when the issue arises again. What is the fix.

Open Office

I used ms office for ever. Then I decided to try open office and when I opened a file and changed some things and decided to go back to ms office the file was messed up. Luckily I had a backup file

Thanks for the tip! I followed all above steps.

So far I can open files from the Recent files list when I enter Word itself, however I still am unable to open any documents using the Word icon pinned to the taskbar:
