    KB4535996 networking problems

After installing KB4535996 I noticed two issues:

    1. I cannot login anymore to the VPN server. The message is “ Can’t connect to xxxx. A connection to the remote computer could not be established. You might need to change the network settings for this connection”. I checked all the setup and it looks fine for me…
    2. The all Hyper-V Virtual Machines running on the host, which has been updated, lost connection to the DHCP server and now are in the subnet “Unidentified network” with IP addresses assigned by APIPA without connection to internet. vNIC for the host is working properly e.g. it has the IP address assigned by DHCP and it has the internet connection.

Uninstalling KB4535996 did not resolved these issues.

Anybody has similar issues and maybe solution? Does Microsoft knows about these problems?

The host system Dell XPS 8700 is running Windows 10 Pro N w/ Media Feature Pack v 1909 – build 18363.592.

    Hi,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

First Verify if the WLAN service is started and set to automatic, if the WLAN service is stopped, I would suggest you to start the service and put it to automatic.

Step 1: Please follow the steps to
    start the WLAN service.

    • Click on Start, type in services.msc
      and press Enter.

    • Select WLAN Autoconfig from the list, Right click
      properties.

    • Change the startup type to Automatic.

    • Click on Start button.

    • Click on Apply, Ok.
Restart the computer and verify if it works.

Also check if all the dependencies are also running. Try the steps to check Dependencies.

    • Right-click on WLAN Autoconfig and select Properties.

    • Click on Dependencies, you will find all the dependency services under box labeled this service depends on the following system components.
Step 2: Run an inbuilt Network troubleshooter.

    • Press Windows + X key and select
      Control Panel.

    • Type troubleshooting and select troubleshooting.
