Windows 10: KB4551762 update fails repeatedly, gives Error 0x800f0986

Discus and support KB4551762 update fails repeatedly, gives Error 0x800f0986 in Windows 10 Updates and Activation to solve the problem; I am running Windows 10 Pro, 1909, x64 and all other updates have installed successfully except KB4551762.     KB4551762 update fails repeatedly, gives Error 0x800f0986


    I am running Windows 10 Pro, 1909, x64 and all other updates have installed successfully except KB4551762. I was unable to find any other posts similar to my problem. The actions I have done so far are:
    - Ran Troubleshooter for Windows updates....no problem found.
    - Manually downloaded/installed KB4551762 with same results...failed with Error 0x800f0986.
    - Restarted into Safe Mode but the Windows Updates didn't seem to work, just got a blank screen with Windows updates at top.
    - Checked Device Manager for any problems but nothing showed bad.
    - Checked my disk space, more than 100GB free space.
    At this point I need some help so any suggestions would be welcome. Thanks in advance.

    Update KB3140741 fails repeatedly with Error 0x800736b3

    Fails repeatedly with the specified error. Does not give any other information and nothing that I've seen while googling has solved the issue though to be fair I haven't really seen anybody with this exact problem I tried a few steps where other windows
    users were having trouble updating their machines.

    Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version Next (10.0.18362.10024) (KB4508451) - Error 0x800f0986

    I keep getting a fail error after attempting to instal this update Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version Next (10.0.18362.10024) (KB4508451) - Error 0x800f0986 for several days now. I restarted computer as well so not sure what to do next.

    I am trying Eagle 51's suggestions now. Windows Update troubleshooter found a bunch of errors and fixed all but one.The update is trying to download KB4025339 again. I'll see what happens. At step one troubleshooter finishes with one error unresolved "Potential Windows Update Database Error Detected-Not Fixed". Windows update stalled at 0%.

    At step 2 same troubleshooter error. The KB finished a new download failed to install.
    Did step 3 KB has downloaded but fails to install.

    If Eagle's suggestion doesn't work I'll try EdTittel's suggestion

    Tried bothe Eagle & Ed 's suggestions - do not work. Anyone else?

    I have noticed that the latest update for my nvidia drivers has failed to update. Wondering about that!
