Hey, I don't normally post on reddit but I'm truly desperate with my current PC issues.
Forgive me if I'm bad at explaining, I'm not particularly good with computers.

Essentially, for the past few days I've been having various issues to do with being able to connect to certain games via the internet.
For example, on steam; Destiny 2. I can't get past the login screen, and on one of my browser games I play I'm having trouble one of the online sections of that, too.
I also noticed I have to constantly restart steam downloads, because they keep stopping themselves.

I went to see if anything in my security settings was causing this, and I couldn't open them. I couldn't open any of them.

I'd had enough of whatever these issues were, and couldn't find a way to fix them, so I went to see if my pc needed any updates, and it did.
I tried to download and install the updates but I kept getting this error

    https://preview.redd.it/ig819izj1q6...bp&s=6866c9ae497772841a28abc80bc19948be4eea6f

None of the fixes I looked at helped, and after an afternoon of agonizing over it, I reset Windows.
I didn't think much of it, I've reset Windows before on a lot of PCs.

However it just made everything infinitely worse.
All my programs are gone, obviously, but now I can't even download steam again, so I have no games and none of my art programs.
Because like earlier, when I had problems downloading games from steam, now I have problems downloading everything. It'll get 5% or so in, and it'll pause and I'll have to resume it, and for downloads that don't have pause and resume buttons, they just fail.
So at this point my PC is just a very expensive lamp.

I've tried installing the updates manually with no luck, I get this error

    https://preview.redd.it/riis1zw02q6...bp&s=aa8763eba84f2dfcb1edf0d8eaa86e7511b554e5

I've tried partial resets, and I've even done a full factory reset with no luck, automatic updates won't work and neither will manually downloading and installing them.
I've tried resetting my router, I've checked and I have all the .NET 3.5 stuff installed.

So I was hoping someone a bit better with computers could help me out.

Is the same if you install the MSU instead of via Windows Update?

    CHKDSK messed up

    Continue with zbook's excellent instructions.

But if you want to try and get into the BIOS again just to check:
    From your product's website:
Opening the Startup Menu during system startup on computers

Follow these steps to open the Startup menu when the computer is powered off.

    1. Turn on the computer.
    2. Immediately press the Escape key repeatedly, about once every second, until the Startup Menu opens.

    You should get this option:
