  1. Kernel Mode Heap Corruption BSOD

I spent about 5 hours playing Rise of the Tomb Raider the other day with no errors and great performance. At one point, I paused the game and left to get food for about 20-30 minutes. After returning, the game was minimized with a notification box from Windows indicating that there was a display driver error. After clicking "Ok" in the notification box, my computer blue screened with a stop code reading: "KERNEL_MODE_HEAP_CORRUPTION."

After restart, I went into Rise of the Tomb Raider again (to test if it was a fluke) and after decreasing some of the graphics settings, I received the same BSOD after about 20-30 minutes.

I uploaded my dump file into a reader online and it was able to give me "ntkrnlmp.exe" as the cause for failure. I did some reading about the stop code itself and I see that out of date graphics drivers or just bad drivers can cause the BSOD.

Judging by the notification I received before the crash, I would assume graphics drivers (for my GTX 1080) would be the root of the issue, but when going into device properties, the "rollback driver" button is greyed out, and my "GeForce Experience" application cannot connect to Nvidia.

I just would like someone with more experience and knowledge to explain to me what I can do to fix it, and the potential reasons behind this so I can hopefully avoid having this happen again.

    Thanks!

    :)
