The most up to date version of Windows is 1709.
After upgrading from Windows 1703 to 1709 the most up to date version of Windows can become corrupt.
Corruption can be found when running sfc /scannow or dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth.
The operating system may have a change in performance as the symptom.

In a similar fashion the most up to date driver can become corrupt.
The most up to date driver can cause BSOD.
When a misbehaving driver is identified and there is no newer driver the driver can be uninstalled and re-installed.
This should fix the misbehaving driver.

At times also the most up to date driver can cause BSOD. This happened last year with Realtek drivers on ASUS notebooks. To fix the BSOD we had to roll back the drivers in many threads. So the goal is system stability and to maintain or improve performance.

For the BIOS there are many upgrades that were missed. Review each of the explanations for each of the missed BIOS upgrades. If they are to fix a known problem that can impact the computer or if they indicate that they are to improve system stability they should be installed.
HP has a forum in which you can make a post and get feedback similar to Ten Forums.

Thank you zbook, I appreciate your help. I have been on the HP forum and I will return there with this issue. As I mentioned before, so far today there has been no issue and it has been fine. Hopefully, it was just a one off anomaly, but I am going to continue researching to try to prevent any future problems.

    Thanks again for your help.
