Windows 10: Keyboard and Mouse not Working after Windows 10 Reset

After messing up some registry tweaks, I attempted to restore the registry backup I made. It did not work. I decided to just reset windows. After awhile Windows returned to my lock screen but both my keyboard and mouse aren't working. I there a way around this/ make them work.


I had/have windows 10 pro version 20H2

I have a LEGACY BIOS of the HP Z800 Workstation.

I have an old Dell Studio that is running windows 10 ---

Ir has Windows 10 and SSD installed - to me it does what it needs to do but this darn mouse and keyboard stuff stopping working with no rhyme or reason is making me very frustrated.

Keyboard and Mouse are wired - NOT WIRELESS

• I cannot easily unplug and plug in the mouse/keyboard to get it going again... they are still lit up but they are dead basically and I have to do a hard reset.
  
• USB selective suspend is disabled.
• I checked the drivers for the keyboard and mouse and they are updated.
• I checked to see if PC has KB4074588 and it does not.

I am not sure what else to do.... I can go days without the issue and then days where anytime I step away from the PC it stops working.

I can say when it is working it just does not just stop ... only when I walk away and the machine is idle or the screen is locked.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

 

Unresponsive Mouse and Keyboard in Windows 10

• Pres Windows+X key on your keyboard.
• Select Device Manager.

Windows 10 Reset: Mouse and keyboard not working

My keyboard and mouse stopped working yesterday in Windows 10 and I don't know how to reset. Device manager says keyboard working properly but mouse properties doesn't even have a mouse listed! I'm NOT a computer geek and it's driving me nuts. I'm using
tablet mode for now. How can I make the mouse show up and reset? Oh and ALL my lights are out on the main keyboard that let's me know it's plugged in, running and online too! It's like my main keyboard died. Is there a fix?
