    Keyboard Backspace - Repeat Rate and Delay


    Whenever I hold Backspace on my keyboard, the speed rate of my keyboard increases. It seems to have gone faster than the maximum you could change it to in the settings. Whenever I hold a key, take "W" for an example, it works fine. However, when I hold down backspace to remove it, the next time I try and hold down a key, it's rate is extremely fast! It stays like that until I get off of Google. I just got a new pc and it randomly did this out of no where.

    Backspace Repeat Rate

    My backspace is not smooth, and I think that has to do with the repeat rate. Everything I can find says the adjustment is in Control Panel. But there is no keyboard in Control Panel on my laptop. How do I adjust how the keys work in Win 10? Thanks.

    Backspace Repeat Rate

    I am Matt, an Independent Advisor and a specialist technician. I would like to assist you with this and hopefully I can help you to resolve this issue promptly.

    To change the repeat rate and repeat delay on windows 10 it is a pretty simple process.

    1. Press the windows key (or click the start menu)

    2. Type the word "Keyboard"

    3. Open the keyboard settings panel (I have included a picture to show what it looks like in the search results)

    4. Click on the speed tab where you can adjust the refresh rate, delay etc. It has a type box for you to do some testing with your new settings.

    Keyboard Backspace - Repeat Rate and Delay

    backspace key behavior changed

    I set the repeat delay to short and the repeat rate to fast then tested. The keys (not just backspace, but all keys) will repeat about at about 3 second intervals. Totally unacceptable!
