Windows 10: Keyboard not working properly after installing windows 10?

After having installed windows 10 on my Asus laptop. Some of the keys are not working. Any ideas??

The Windows 10 Upgrade probably fails to recognise your laptop keyboard because you had the external keyboard plugged in during the upgrade. The general advice from MS is to disconnect all external hardware when performing the upgrade.

Try Scan for Hardware Changes to see if that picks up your Laptop's keyboard (Right-Click on the Start Menu Button to use the 'old' Control Panel functions such as Device Manager). There may also be a Driver compatibility issue that needs resolving, if
so it would probably be best to check if your Laptop Manufacturer has released any updated Windows 10 Drivers.

 

Laptop keyboard not working properly after windows 10 update

I have just updated my medion laptop to windows 10 while doing the update I had a usb keyboard pugged in during the update.

Windows 10 is working fine, but the inbuilt keyboard is not. Being a laptop keyboard some of the buttons double up as a numerical keyboard when numb lock is turned on.

Now on the keyboard if t turn on numb lock the the numbers type fine. eg press letter 'L' number 3 appears. if I turn numb lock off and type those letters nothing happens. type letter L nothing appears on screen

The only way I can type the letters is to hold the fn key down while typing. To turn on numb lock I have to press fn and numb lock button.

any ideas how to fix this

Which keys are not working ?. Function keys or alphabets ?. If it's function keys, you may need to install "Keyboard filter driver" and/or "ATK Hotkey Package". Usually those can be downloaded from Asus product support page ( you may need to try 8.1 driver if Win10 is not listed on the site ).

 

Its a bit confusing really. Some of the alphabet keys are working and the ones that have multi functions only work as alphabet keys if you press the function key.

 

After this happening to me (This laptop I'm on) I downloaded a keyboard re-mapper
Now ive remapped all the keys the only symbol I cannot get it the question mark

I tried extended I tried rebooting and I tried enabling and disabling NumLk

For those reading this from googling the problem....

The easiest fix most people had was windows key + space bar (changes your keyboard to extended)

if this doesn't work :
do It again to undo it, then do fn + numlk function key (and then try type uio (if u does some enter or back space command then you're in my boat)

Will try anshad suggestion but obviously with my own laptops brand. (MEDION)

 

It might be Asus's proprietary ATK driver try and use this: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download X751LB

Choose Windows 10 as OS, expand ATK, download, unpack, install and reboot. Good luck!

 

Any Possible fixes for me with medion?>? the driver I downloaded re-set my over ride now I have to write holding in fn

 

think I found my problem
doing numlk shows a symbol between chnges

is 123 and the 2nd is arrow keys

not sure on solution

 

That's a proprietary Asus ATK driver, meaning it's required and only mean for Asus laptops.

For Medion laptop drivers check with Medion's website.

No drivers for keyboard at all

 

I just checked your laptop drivers on Medion's website, there's not proprietary drivers needed for your laptop meaning you can just search around for Windows 10 certified drivers for your laptops hardware.

And in theory your keyboard should be working correctly without any drivers needed, if you want to know what hardware you have on your laptop to search for Windows 10 drivers use this software: HWiNFO, HWiNFO32/64 - Download

 

I am having the same problem with my Medion MD 99080 laptop. The keys UIOPJKLM only work if i hold FN key. Otherwise without FN the keys UIOPJKLM don't work. If i turn on NUMlock the keys UIOPJKLM change in 456-1230.

I deinstalled windows 10 and in Windows 8.1 all keys work fine.

Hope this issue will be solved.

 

I've been having the same problem (Updated to W10, now have to hold fn key to type letters) with a Medion Akoya S4209.

It's currently (automatically) using a Lenovo Thinkpad PS/2 Keyboard driver.
Can't find any drivers on Medion's website, Lenovo's or anywhere else... can anyone help?

 

I Re-installed win10 as i forgot to install it on my ssd, and for the past 2 days my keyboard was working fine however, i left the laptop on over night and now the keyboards messed up again.
