Keyboard (tapping print screen + f12) causes PC to shutdown.

This is kind of a weird one and isn't exactly a BSOD per se.

Tapping F12 and then Print Screen on my keyboard will cause my PC to shutdown. This appears to be a windows initiated shutdown with win 10 dialogue briefly appearing as opposed to a sudden, unexpected crash shutdown.

I've replicated this error a few times and this occurs simply when F12 and Prnt Screen are hit.

I took a quick glance at the windows event viewer and I believe these events are connected:

Code: Event ID 7031. Service Control Manager The Contact Data_747e76e service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 1 time(s). The following corrective action will be taken in 10000 milliseconds: Restart the service.[/quote] Code: The User Data Storage_747e76e service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 1 time(s). The following corrective action will be taken in 10000 milliseconds: Restart the service.[/quote] Code: The User Data Access_747e76e service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 1 time(s). The following corrective action will be taken in 10000 milliseconds: Restart the service.[/quote] It feels like something which is triggered by the F12 and then print screen keystroke is causing windows to trigger an unexpected shutdown. I've reproduced this several times today Friday (7/22/2016) so anything sort of error/shutdown that appears in the log is likely connected to this.

Thank you very much for your help.

    :)

  2. Windows 10 - PC locks up on Sleep/Shutdown

When my computer goes into sleep/hibernation the monitors turn off but the PC fails to shutdown and the system will not restore when I move the mouse or tap the keyboard. Similarly, when I shutdown the computer it fails to power down and I must use the power
    button for a hard shutdown.

    Any ideas?

Keyboard (tapping print screen + f12) causes PC to shutdown.

Those events are indeed connected to the problem, because the services are forced to shutdown when you press those buttons, they come in first because all services first need to shutdown before the system can shutdown.
The forced shutdown of services is the result of the shutdown you trigger everytime by pressing those keys, it cannot be seen as a cause for the problem.

    I've disabled fast start up.
Seems like the issue still persists unfortunately. I've uploaded a new DM log.
You can see this happening on 07/23/2016 at 17:45 (might be 17:44) and 17:47 with fast startup disabled.

Why are you pressing F12 then Print Screen?
It's a very unusual key combination that does nothing on my Win wo Pro X64 system.

I was actually gaming and tried to screenshot something.
F12 is the steam binding so I hit that at first out of habit then I hit print screen and *cry*cry*cry

    Ah, so steam is involved.

You could perhaps bind steam print screen (F12) to a different key. That should fix the problem.

Well I'm worried that the underlying issue might be more serious.

To clarify though. Steam actually isn't involved. This f12 +print screen error can occur basically anytime in windows - even at the login screen.

I initially discovered this playing Overwatch. I was trying to screenshot and I hit F12 out of habit, then I quickly hit print screen which led windows to initiate a shutdown.

Steam or some keyboard mapping/binding program must be involved as when I press F12+Print Screen nothing happens, good or bad so that key combo is not a normal part of Windows 10.

Do you have any other keyboard remapping program installed?

    This is what I see:

I don't use any key mappers or anything like that.

I don't know if this is being triggered by an application but it does happen anytime windows is running regardless of what applications are on/off. In particular his can happen on just the Windows 10 Login Screen right a power on.

    Try it in Safe Mode.

    Click on Start.
    Click on the Power icon.
Hold down the Shift key and click on Restart.

Perhaps it's related to keyboard itself. Different keyboard act differently when pressed several "unsupported" keys at once.
What keyboard do you use? Can you test my hypothesis with different keyboard? I can't reproduce it with 4 different keyboards, including one wireless (no any special software/driver for the keyboard installed)
