    Keyboard typing many characters.


    This is on a Dell Laptop Windows 10.


    So after a recent update, my keyboard has been really screwy. When I wish to type an 'r', 'v', 'e' or 'f' it will type out many characters and is always the same characters for example 'r' will type 'rweq43poiu' 'v' will do somewhat the same only it also uses the delete key and ctrl key.


    The system shows that I have three keyboard layouts on the desktop but in the settings I have it set to only one.

    It does not always do this it will power on fine then after about 30mins of use, it starts typing wrong. I've looked into num lock and scroll lock insert key stuff but it didn't do anything.


    I have also done a factory reset and this did not fix it.


    The onscreen keyboard works fine and so does an external keyboard.

    If you're having issues with your laptop's keyboard, we highly suggest performing the troubleshooting steps in this article:

    Mouse, touchpad, and keyboard problems in Windows    . If the issue persists, you may also try the suggestions posted by Deepak Kodi in this
    thread. Quite a few people found his suggestions helpful.

    I cannot type "~" on keyboard

    To better assist you, kindly provide the following information:

    • Can you type other special characters(eg. @#$%^&) using your keyboard?
    • What troubleshooting steps have you done so far?
