    Laptop doesn't boot because OS is on D: drive instead of C: drive


    Boot the windows install dvd/usb and get to a command prompt and run:
    bcdboot c:\windows - where "c:\windows" specifies the root of Windows Vista, Windows 7 or Windows 8/10
    In your case: bcdboot d:\windows.
    This worked for me on a recent SSD upgrade after Ghosting my drive.
