Windows 10: laptop is frozen

I can't find a support topic that addresses this issue. My laptop is not responding to anything. Touchpad is frozen. Mouse doesn't move cursor. Hitting windows key +x does nothing. Ctrl Alt Del does nothing. Hitting FN plus F5 blanks screen for a few seconds. No response when hitting the power key. Screen stays lit after several hours with no screen saver coming on.


Every bit of advice I can find either requires a mouse, or a series of steps that have no effect. IE press window key then tab. Nothing happens.


I was playing a CD I've played many times before when it froze. CD continued to play til the end. I removed that. I removed the USB wireless gadget for the mouse and put it back.


Nothing.


Any ideas?
