Windows 10: Laptop Power Supply Replacement Q

I want to be sure my advice is correct.

When replacing a modern laptop power supply, is it important that the voltage and the amperage of the new supply match the old supply exactly?

She's got a replacement that is 4.74 amps and the original is 2.37. (for both the voltage is 19)

This time leave the laptop unplugged and without a battery for 20 minutes

Replace the battery

Hi dk0512, do you even get the Acer Startup screen?

Remove the power supply

Remove the battery

Press and hold the Power Button for 30 seconds

Replace the battery

Connect to the Power Supply

Try starting your laptop again . . .

 

Voltage must match. Amperage of the new supply can be higher.

The amperage rating on the supply is the maximum it can output. So if the laptop pulls 2A the supply will only output 2A regardless of the maximum rating.
