  1. Laptop randomly crashing on login screen.

I have a Razer Blade R2 running Windows 10. Getting critical error, kernel-power event ID 41, but BugcheckCode and power timestamp both 0.

My laptop occasionally crashes on the login screen, immediately after opening the lid and waking it from sleep mode. No blue screen, just a sudden crash and restart as if I held down the power button. This does not happen every time I open the lid. It is seemingly random and I cannot reliably know when a crash is going to happen. In fact, it's rather rare (I've had 2 crashes since I updated to version 1903 around 7/28: one on 8/3 and one on 8/5. Before, I think I had about four while running version 1809, but it was also random. I have opened my laptop way more than that, so I'd say it happens about 1/20 times.)

This is why safe boot and other precautionary or diagnostic measures don't seem to work, because I cannot say with certainty when it is going to happen or that a solution fixes the problem. All I know is that something is occasionally causing my computer to crash on login, which I suspect is a faulty or incompatible program, but I cannot find what it is.

My leading suspicion now is that my computer is just old and incompatible with Windows 10. But I have my doubts, considering I've had Windows 10 for almost a year, so it doesn't make much sense that it would act up now unless an update changed something's compatibility. That's why I am still searching for answers.

I have tried updating my drivers (all kinds, not just graphic), updating Windows 10 to the latest version, booting in safe mode, turning off fast startup, unplugging anything connected on startup, uninstalling reported problematic programs, forcing my computer to go in sleep mode when the lid is closed (it often would wake up due to wake timers), etc, etc. All the solutions that I've tried have not helped, and I do not know how or where I can find any semblance of a hint that would tell me what's wrong and how to fix it.

If there is some sort of diagnostic program or something that can maybe find the root of this problem, that would be nice, as I still don't even know what part of my computer this problem is caused by- whether it be graphic, battery, drivers, programs, whatever. Anything short of a clean install, if at all possible.

    Thanks.

    :)

  3. Windows 10 Login Crash Loop

    Hi David,

    • Which screen are you referring to?
    • Are you able to login to Desktop?
    • Are you able to see the login screen?

The power icon referred in the steps is present at the login screen. If you are able to see the login screen where you enter the password to go to Desktop, then you need to follow those steps. These steps to be followed if you are able to reach to
login screen but unable to go to Desktop.

Please provide us more information related to the issue so that we can assist you further.

    Can't login to new computer w/Windows 10

    Hi,

    Thank you for your reply.

    • Are you able to login to Microsoft Account on Web?

    • Have you installed any language pack?
I suggest you to follow the steps below and check if it helps.

Step 1: I suggest you to select the appropriate language in login screen at the bottom right corner and check if it helps.

Steps 2: Use On-screen keyboard in the login screen to login and check if it helps.

Hope this helps. If the issue remains unresolved, please get back to us and we would be happy to help.
