Windows 10: Laptop stuck at "Getting Windows Ready. Don't turn off your computer".

My laptop just got a reset because I was facing problems with the Optane Memory module.
The module is now changed so I don't think there's a problem due to that.


Due to the reset, I had to get all the updates, apps and software I had previously.

I installed some Windows updates while the computer was on, the others needed a restart.
I put the computer on restart and now it seems to be stuck in a loop of this message.


It's been 1 hour I am waiting for it to go ahead and it does not seem to work. Some articles on the internet say that we should wait for 3 hours, its midnight as of writing this and my PC tends to go to sleep if no activity is done so I have to press a key or move the mouse, I cannot do that throught the night.


I couldn't find reliable articles so I came here and decided to drop this question here so in the future it might help others and I get a solution from a reliable source.


I would be eternally grateful if you help me out.


For more info, the HDD LED is on meaning that something is being downloaded.

Its been 1 hour.

There was some "Malicious software removal tool" that was installed by Windows Update itself and I am doubtful that could be the culprit.

My Dell laptop was running slow so I rebooted. It is now stuck on"Getting Windows ready Don't turn off your computer."

WOW. After a very long wait. the laptop finally restarted. Disregard.

For us to effectively assist you, may we ask if you made any recent changes on your computer prior to the issue?

Have you tried any possible troubleshooting steps? If yes, what are those steps? This is to avoid repeating of the possible steps done.

If Windows 10 install gets stuck on the message "Getting Windows ready", it is possible that the internet connection might be running slow. Kindly ensure that your internet connection can suffice the download during the update. The other thing would be a conflict
from external devices. We suggest temporarily disconnect all peripherals aside from mouse and keyboard.
