  1. Laptop Unable to Shut Down Properly

    Hi all!
    I have a HP Pavilion 15 laptop that I bought in January this year. I had no problems with this laptop at all until I updated to Windows 10 and still don't for the most part.
    When I attempt to shut down, hibernate or sleep my machine it goes to a black screen with the power still on, meaning I hold the power button down myself to switch it off (which is not good for it) or wait until it runs out of battery (also not ideal).
    I've googled this problem but most answers are tailored to Windows 8.1 as Windows 10 is still fairly new. Any advice would be appreciated!

    Please try to follow the below methods to troubleshoot.

    Method 1: SFC scan.

    System File Checker is a utility in Windows that allows users to scan for corruptions in Windows system files and restore corrupted files.

    Follow the below steps to perform an SFC scan.

    1. Press Windows key + X key.

    2. Select command prompt (admin).

    3. Type the below command and press Enter:

    Sfc /scannow

    If the issue persists, please refer the below step.

    Method 2: Safe mode and clean boot

    Please try to go to Safe mode and then do a Clean boot and check if the issue persists.

    Step 1: Safe mode.

    Safe mode is useful for troubleshooting problems with programs and drivers that might not start correctly or that might prevent Windows from starting correctly. Safe mode starts
    Windows with a limited set of files and drivers. To start your system in safe mode follow the below steps:

    1. Press and hold Shift key and restart your Computer.

    2. Select Troubleshoot.

    3. Select Advance Option.

    4. Select Startup settings.

    5. Follow the on Screen instruction.

    Step 2: Clean boot.

    Putting your system inClean Boot
    state helps in identifying if any third party applications or startup items are causing the issue. You need to follow the steps from the article mentioned below to perform a Clean Boot.

    Im also using HP Pavilion 15, having the same issue after upgrading to Windows 10 from Windows 8.1 my windows was unable to shutdown properly leaving the power led and wifi led on and computer running.

    The main problem for this issue is that the Intel chipset driver is not update via Windows update.

    You need to go to HP website and download the Windows 10 driver Intel chipset.

    Recommend to download all the Windows 10 driver and install them.
