Windows 10: Laptop unresponsive after idle (when plugged in)

Good afternoon, I have a Acer Aspire E5- 576 running a 64-bit Windows 10.


When charging It becomes unresponsive when left Idle. By unresponsive I mean, the display turns off while the power light remains 'on' and cpu fans are running. The keyboard and mouse are unresponsive and a hard shutdown is required.

This has been going on for a few months. (estimated around February 2018 when I updated the graphics drive).


From what I've tested this occasionally happens when entering sleep using the sleep button, closing the lid or when it goes into sleep from a timer. When left unattended from a Lock Screen it happens every time.

Running sleep study from powercfg reports the power state is Active, while highlighted red, and the OS state data is empty.


In some situations the Laptop will turn itself on after entering sleep and enter the same state above. In these I noticed Event viewer reports:


unresponsive in idle from Lock Screen or Sleep states.
Wake Source: Power Button

(I'm not pressing the power button here)

I have updated my graphics driver, BIOS, and everything else is up to date (to my knowledge). I've changed the power settings to never let the laptop sleep when plugged in, however in this situation the above condition happens randomly on battery.


This is everything I've done and noticed. Power settings are currently set to default and I think I've narrowed this all to happen due to the lock screen transition. I'm tempted to perform a system restore but before then, anyone have any solutions?



TLDR: System unresponsive in idle from Lock Screen or Sleep states for laptop while charging, display turns off, hard disk fans run. (all on default power/sleep settings).

Computer is unresponsive after sitting idle

My laptop screen goes black after sitting idle or when i close the lid. Sleep and hibernation are disabled but laptop becomes unresponsive.

 

Laptop screen turns black when left idle and becomes unresponsive.

Laptop scrres turns black when i leave it idle for a while after using it then the screen turns unresponsive.

All i get is a black screen and nothing works.

The knlo way i can use it again is if I shut it down using the power button and then switch it back on.

Its happened multiple times......

Windows 10 Unresponsive After Being Idle Cannot See Desktop Icons. Mouse not working. I have tried Startup Repair, usually by using the "Boot to Advanced Startup Options from a Hard Reboot," since it is the only way I can get my PC to respond.

Does anyone have any suggestions?
