The tool does take a bit of time as a rule. But that the results showing things were good made you smile as I can imagine! At least you can now rule out any of those types of errors.

Depending on the age of the laptop since the SFC and Disk Check apparently haven't been finding OS and other errors the thing I have a suspicion could be the drive itself. It isn't something you generally want to hear but for a friend's older laptop actually a Vista model the drive had to be replaced twice! The Hitachi that came with that old HP model and then on a bit newer 7 laptop I saw upgraded to 10 that suddenly went out in december!

Later I found it wasn't only the nothing displayed graphics chip I suspect may have let out but when placing the first drive in an enclosure that was a no go! Ithen simply went after a new Toshiba model with 10 already on to get that sorted out. The drive saw 4yrs. of use at least while something else remains the problem with the HP model.

  3. That was "finding OS and other errors" referring other types of system and disk errors, partition volume errors, etc. Not finding any is actually the preferred end result when running either or both of those two system tools. That's what you want to see not something else!
