  1. Laptop's performance drops when on battery mode

I have a Windows 10 Laptop, which is fairly new. My laptop runs smoothly when plugged in, but performance drops noticeably when it is running on battery power. I have set power mode to 'best performance' for battery, and yet there are lags and programs take much longer to open. I don't really need to save my battery; I work near a charging outlet all the time so I can always plug in immediately when I'm running low on juice. I keep it unplugged after full charge to preserve battery life. I want my laptop to be as fast on battery mode as it is when plugged in. What do I need to do to achieve that?
