Windows 10: Last update blanked out my address book and Explorer favorites

On July 4, I got an update that rendered my address book useless as well as my favorites in Explorer and Google Ghrome. The actual files are still there in the location under Users/Username/Favorites and Contacts respectively, but they seem to be copied to a Temp folder. Neither Program looks for them in these new folders or the old location under User...How can I change that? I had many Favorites and a long list of Contacts, some of which I may not be able to obtain again....and when I went to unstall the update a few days after that, there was no "Uninstall" button available....


Not only that but every update I have had since about 3, have made me re-setup my email addresses that I use from my ISP, and reset all my browser preferences. I hate Edge, but it seems to try to force me to use it.

Yes, it is Outlook. I had used Live Mail & it was able to import everything without any problem, but didn't care for the program & installed Outlook from MS Office 2007. When I imported the list everyone's name shows up in the "Contacts" but when you open up the address book it is blank.

I'm using Win 7 64bit & MS Office 2007. If you go under contacts everyone is listed, but the address book remains empty & it will not allow you to add anyone, any thoughts?

try making a yahoo account or use thunderbird or windows mail and re-export it. you can import via yahoo mail and then when you export it will give you an option on what format youd like to download the file in. that might be your ticket.
