Windows update crash Windows 10 OS while updating AMD graphic driver

Hi,

Just to notify in the community that for those who running AMD APU with AMD Radeon (High specs, including 7970, 8970, and R9 series), The latest graphic driver will crash your Windows 10 OS (for my case, graphic driver for AMD Radeon HD 8970m)

I have an MSI laptop GX70 3BE with AMD APU A10 5750m (with embedded Radeon 8560G) with AMD Radeon HD 8970m. I'm currently running on multiple GPU. This system however has some problem with the latest Radeon Crimson software (ver. 16.xx) and the latest stable
Crimson software that runs is Crimson 15.11. Also, the graphic package that can run smoothly is 15.300. This is due to the APU graphic Radeon 8560G could not support the latest driver.

This morning, when I'm working, the system force restart itself and Windows failed to load twice, thus forcing me to run recovery environment. Happens twice.

To solve this issues, I have to hide this update from Microsoft Updates. To do this, as I search the internet, there is one tool for that in the Microsoft web page. Search for this article: KB3073930 (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3073930). Install
the application, run it, and choose to hide AMD graphic driver for AMD Radeon HD 8970m.

Hopefully it would not update the graphic driver for the time being (and eternally)

For instance: I have an AMD Radeon HD 6520G which is in the 6000G Series.

Now the next trick is to see if Windows Update (WU) 'updates' the driver - it has in the past, even with the beta 15.4 (or 15.5). I had WU fooled for a while, but I haven't been able to prevent WU from helping me *Tongue

I have problems with it. Clean install after DDU produced only a very poor CCC and no Dx12 support that this driver is supposed to bring. After another session with DDU I installed Omega drivers again and updated drivers thru CCC. Installed that new 15.7 over it and the Driver packaging version number stayed the same: 15.20-150602a-184226E
After running tests, performance didn't budge either.

 

Well I have issues with every driver I have tried.Every install of drivers has errors.On Windows 10 Build:10162

I've tried:
AMD 15.7 (Would not even run after install and computer restart)
AMD 15.6 Beta (Installed with errors,And could not adjust AA)
AMD 14.12 Omaga (Installed with errors(AMD Quick Stream would not run,So I uninstalled it),But I'm able to adjust AA & AF and seems to be working)
So I'm on AMD 14.12 Omaga.

 

It's a processor with integrated graphics, you shouldn't use general drivers but from Mobility series, Look here for them: Download Drivers

 

They are mobility drivers.

I'm not convinced that the AMD auto-detect application gets it correct - you'd think it would though.

 

Just update my grafic driver om my amd card on windows update

 

Today, I installed Windows 10. Everything is OK, except one thing. I am using second display as extended display. After every new windows installation, I need to change video format, of second display (TV), to PAL (BG). I did that withe previous windows version, with installing catalyst control center, and than change video format to PAL (BG). Now there isn't any version of catalyst control center which works under windows 10 and with my video card, so I can't do this that way. So I need some solution how to change this setting under windows, or some catalyst version which works under win10, and includes my video card.

 

Prior to the update, I was running an AMD Radeon 6450 with dual monitors (one VGA, one digital). Post-update, the monitors were working fine. When updating my AMD drivers, the digital monitor now displays "InputNotSupport", but the VGA one works fine. This is pproblematic as most of the functions I do on a regular basis (such as system settings) were done on the digital monitor as primary. Any help for a fix?

 

Hi and welcome. Which video card is that ? I haven't had CCC or driver problems on any W 10 version since 14.2 Omega drivers. Right now, original MS drivers and 15.7 work right, CCC and everything.
