It's not trouble with drivers but rather I wanted to keep things to the latest on Win10 after the upgrade. Intel's site has always been behind as drivers are usually always leaked on other sites first. In this case, it's for my ASUS G74SX Notebook since my desktop is still running WinXP on a ASUS P4C800-E Deluxe in which Intel drivers had no longer supported it since I think version 6 or earlier.

I have seen lots of false positives just like Norton had been deleting all of my Netgear R7000 router firmware files flagging it as unsafe when they are the official versions from both Netgear and DD-WRT. Manufacturers usually only release drivers whenever they feel like it as long as the existing drivers work, no different than nVidia drivers are obsolete if you base it on the manufacturers site while I'm using the drivers directly from nVidia that is updated with GeForce Experience. Manufacturers don't really want to support multiple versions of some driver or software so they will just release whatever ships with the system or motherboard, otherwise they will be putting more money into support which is nearly non-existent.

I've been running 10.1.2.9 drivers since 22 hours ago and haven't had any problems. Besides, didn't someone say that Intel Chipset Drivers are really INF files and not actual driver binaries so it doesn't come with binaries to cause a BSOD.

Think that was here. Mine is running fine with the 10.1.2.8 so for now i will stick with this until Gigabyte shows different for me.
I know what you mean wanting newest of any driver for Windows 10, don't think a month or so older driver is going to improve your system. I would as you might already know, be careful with drivers as you can get BSOD or need to reinstall OS. Make restore points or system images, as sometimes restore points do not help. Good luck !

Good point, I figured since Intel chipset drivers are nothing more than INF files, it shouldn't cause the BSOD.

My knowledge not sure with inf stuff, may want to ask around. If digitally signed most likely safe.

I thought if it was WHQL, it would usually be safe since not all versions of drivers are WHQL.

I have been running 10.1.1.8 on my Asus laptop but Fernando told me updating to the latest with this particular driver type is totally unnecessary and will not improve performance.

Oh well, I needed to reboot anyways so it was worth a shot. What I'm more interested in is does Intel Turbo Boost Technology Monitor really do anything and will the system still change speeds without it as in Windows 7, it used to crash after eating up close to a gig of memory but it runs fine in Win10 and I haven't seen a newer version than the 2.6 I'm running.

Believe it just monitors this as it is already incorporated into the chipset you have. Intel says it's an end of life product. I had this with my ASUS board, to me became just another startup item.

I'm actually surprised it works better under Win10 than Win7 though. It's a major resource hog from what I can tell since it starts at only megabytes when first launch and then it consumes a gig of ram. Not sure if the system will still switch between the regular speed and the boosted speed without it.

Some things i read it should increase without it. Had something similar with my board now an app it had overclocking features too. Mine goes past 3.30GHZ without it. 1 GB kind of big for startup item, plus it would have to run all the time if believe you need it to boost it.

Actually, before I upgraded to Win10, I read on the ASUS ROG forums someone claimed Win10 was running their CPU at a lower speed than Win7. It starts at 83MB but with Win7, it keeps growing so within a day, it would be up to 1GB and the process will crash on it's own. I'm running Process Hacker so I just use it to restart the process. With Win 10, it stays at 83MB and doesn't grow.

Still a lot for a process you most likely do not need running even if you shut it down which kind of makes no sense with process hacker, mean run it when you need it ? As said i believe it just monitors it as the name states, you should google it more as i did before answering you before.

There isn't a way to run it manually as it's not even part of the Start Menu. Most other people find it annoying as usually it will just crash on it's own and they have no way to run it again as it's really called SignalIsland.exe as can be seen here:
Intel Turbo Boost Monitor is anoying | Intel Communities
I keep it run so I know when the system is actually running at full load for no reason and I always manage to restart it before it crashes since my systems are usually up 24x7x365. It's more important in Win10 since ASUS's Power4Gear no longer has OSD in Win10 and there are times like earlier today when the system was running at a slow profile that I didn't know about as Fn+space will toggle between the P4G profiles without any OSD indication.
