Latest networking issue caused by KB3189866 and KB3185614

Keep in mind everyone that this is from a search that I did today while troubleshooting a problem for a couple of users on here. I am just putting the information into one post, since it has not been posted about what KB's are at fault with the networking problems that cropped up.

Everyone that is seeing network issues, check to see if KB3189866 and KB3185614 have been installed in the latest updates, which is causing issues with Network Shares. If you uninstall it, it should return the network back to giving you some sanity, That is until Microsoft rolls out another way to break 10.

The following are supposed to fix this.

Uninstall KB3189866 (useful for proving it is the cause) or Add credentials for that share into the Windows Credential Manager:

    a. Go to Control Panel -> User Accounts -> Manage Your Credentials -> Windows Credentials

    b. For each server you wish to access, add in an entry for "\\SERVERNAME" and a username and password of "guest"

Another KB may be a culprit. https://support.microsoft.com/kb/3185879 MS16-114: Security Update for Windows SMBv1 Server: September 13, 2016

Unfortunately the update KB3189866 is for version 1607 and my version is 1511 and when I tried to install it said it was not compatible for this version ..I did check and the update for my version is KB3185614 which failed on the 14th but was successful
on the 15th ..but it never helped solve the problem.

Update: The module KB3189866 does not un-install.

How do I add a credential for each "server" when there are no Users account set up. I have one NAS with SMB protocol and Samba v3 on CentOS 6.

They may rollback ? not sure they are both major Win10 cumulative updates for 1607 (AU) and 1511

How did you install Win10 without a User Account? or do I misunderstand you?

I did a copy and paste from the original article. Since your NAS is running on Linux, the user would have to be a Samba user on it. It does not matter what version of Samba. Just that the user credentials are on that server. You should be able to pull that KB out in Programs and Features in the Control Panel as it has always been done.
