Windows 10: Latest Patch Tuesday Update Error 0x800f0986 for KB4565351

Has anyone else experienced this error with the latest Windows update for August 11?


"2020-08 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1909 for x64-based Systems KB4565351 - Error 0x800f0986"

I already went through the troubleshooting steps including DISM.exe and SFC 3 times and yet this patch continues to give the same error. One thing to note - my wife has the same exact laptop HP ENVY x360 that I have and her patches installed without any errors.


Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

the Error Code 0x800f0986 means PSFX_E_APPLY_FORWARD_DELTA_FAILED.

The quickest and best way to fix the error is to perform an Inplace upgrade/Repair installation.

Have you installed a 3rd party Antivirus and/or Firewall Program and/or Tuning Tools?

When yes, please remove this.

Please use the removal tool of the respective manufacturer of the antivirus or firewall program also.

After that starts a Windows Repair Installation:
Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade

If you already did SFC, need to do is used the system restore.and after the system restores, kindly disable or turn off the antivirus that you have and manually download the KB4565351 and look for the x64-based Systems.

Please let me know so we can able to look for another workaround solutions or we can ask another expert about their suggestion
