Windows 10: Latest Realtek HD Audio Driver Version

I really don't like the limited and buggy Dell audio with MaxxAudio on my xps 8910, thanks.

 

MaxxAudio is installed when certain Dell models are detected. This is when running the setup. I'm not sure if manually installing the driver from Device Manage will make any difference, but you can try.

 

If I use R2.79 driver I downloaded long time ago for another pc from Realtek site, I get Realtek HD audio manager, every thing works except no sound after wake up from sleep.

I tried R2.80, R2.81 and Dell driver 6.0.1.7904 so far, all Dell audio instead of Realtek HD audio manager *Sad

 

Install R2.79 driver and then manually replace it with newer version from Device Manager (don't run the setup). Hopefully this way you will change the driver only and let the software as it is.

 

Tried, didn't work.

 

First, do a system restore to keep things as they are now in case you need to go back.
Next, you don't want your system re-installing your Dell audio, so let's prevent this:

Now, you want to uninstall your Dell audio completely, leaving your system with no audio. If it asks you to restart, then restart.
Now you have no audio and your pc won't search for a driver to install.
Next, you want to install the Realtek audio. Best thing to do is install from the Realtek website. This will now be your base audio and when you need to update, you can go through Device Manager and update via cab file.

Choose this option below




After you saved it, run the .exe file you downloaded and follow the instructions.
After restart, see if it installed properly and let me know.
If everything worked fine, then do a system restore so you can go back should you ever need to.

 

Unfortunately, Dell audio / Realtek HD audio manager are in driver itself, even installing from device manager, either Dell audio or Realtek hd audio manager will be installed depending on the driver version and your system manufacter (in my case, dell), in fact, in task manager, process description of Dell audio is Realtek HD audio manager.

So far, R2.79 includes Realtek HD audio manager, R2.80 includes Dell Audio, so there might be some version between these two including Realtek HD audio manager.

Yes, Dell driver 6.0.1.7904 in my original post is from Dell using service tag, but it is too new, Dell audio is included.
