Latest update appears to have killed Office 2016

I have Win10 and Office to update automatically. Since the latest, I cannot run Word or Excel.
I get an error message saying "Something has gone wrong" and to retry. If that doesn't work to try repairing from Control Panel.
Attempting this, gives me another error message, that system service is not running, Error Code 30068-13 (1058).
Using +R, and services.msc, I can access Office source engine, which is disabled, but all buttons are greyed out.
Just out of curiosity, I did a search of my hard drive, and Word.exe appears to have completely disappeared, and is nowhere to be found.
    Apart from reinstalling, any suggestions?

  2. Latest update (March 2016) keeps trying to update Office XP onto Office 2016 on Windows 10

Why is the latest update (13 March 2016) trying to update Office XP on on a new PC with Office 2016 on Windows 10?

"Office XP Service Pack 3 - Error 0x80096004"

  3. Can't get June 2016 updates for Windows 10

From the "check for update" page of the control panel I tried to update Windows 10 yesterday (June 15, 2016). The message I got was "Updates available" and listed an update for "Office 2010 32-bit", even though I have Office 2016 for a 64-bit p.c.

After about an hour-and-a-half, I checked back and hat page still indicated that 0% had been down-loaded.

I tried to update Windows 10 again today and got the same message about the Office 2010 update (even though I have Office 2016). The update page was still frozen at 0% and I couldn't get any other updates, except for Windows Defender.

Thus, the latest update for Windows 10 is for May 2016.

    Any suggestions?

Latest update appears to have killed Office 2016

    Guys
    The problem has gone!!!!
I suspect that the update was paused (while I used it?) and completed it some time (days) later.
It was not the only program that it appeared to brick.
Why couldn't MS have the OS give a dialogue box to say "Update paused. Some apps may not work while paused. Blah, Blah" or SOMETHING, ANYTHING but nothing.
