  1. Latest Update Slows Desktop Appearance

    Hi,

Ran the latest update to version 2004 last night current version: 9.8.31681.0 and restarted. Login screen shows up fine, but when I log in, the spinning cursor on "Welcome" is suspiciously slow - then a black screen with a mouse cursor. I've tried Ctrl-Alt-Del and running Task Manager, then starting explorer.exe as recommended elsewhere with no *immediate* results. But, after about 5 minutes, suddenly the desktop appears and runs at normal speed. After trying this several times, it looks as is I don't need to run explorer.exe - it just takes the desktop unacceptably long to appear.

Any idea what's going on? At this point, I'm wary of running any other updates KB4566782 is in the queue for fear of screwing things up further. Any advice is welcome.

    Thanks

    Jim Stanley

    :)

Windows Updated(16299.309).KB4088776 Restart is required to complete.

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.

Thanks for the suggestions and for the time to respond Latest Update Slows Desktop Appearance :) Best regards.

And thanks for the tip of that program, I'll have it on my list.

  3. LATEST UPDATES SLOWED MY PC

Latest updates (August and September) have slowed down my PC.

    • Apps works slowly - have slow startup.
    • Groove Music works slowly and crashes - have slow startup, slow response and crashes.
    • File Explorer works slowly - doesn't display folders, just green progress bar and "Working on it".
    • File migration (cut/copy/paste) works slowly - when you copy some amount of files, it needs more time than before and process simply slows down or stops.
So, the problem arose from the latest updates. And I'm not only one who have this problems.
