  1. Latest windows 10 pro update bricked laptop (03/13/19)

I just updated my sager clevo p955er to the latest windows which i assume was release today or yesterday.

When the notebook restarted it booted in to windows but nothing worked aside from a few function keys (fn + volume/LCD/SLEEP). Everything aside from those was completely unresponsive, it wouldnt boot in to safe mode either.

I tried a system restore point from a few days ago which said it was successful, but now it only boots in to recovery mode. It will not no matter what restore point i use or how i boot, boot normally.

Reverting to a previous version of windows doesnt work either.

I have had the problem where the PC is unresponsive after an update before, and the restore point fixed it. Noitso lucky this time.

Any insight is appreciated, im trying to avoid a wipe as best i can. Let me know what other info you need.

    :)

Microsoft to make Windows 10 updates mandatory

Well, at the moment at least, you can choose to defer upgrades. Under Settings > Windows Updates > Advanced options you need to check the box labeled "Defer upgrades". What does that do? Good question. The answer I've found might illuminate it to a degree.

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/defer-upgrades-in-windows-10

I hear this only applies to Pro and Enterprise editions. But I can't verify that.
